Google Working on Desktop Linux

Rumors of the Google OS persist.  I started using Ubuntu at home a few months ago and love it.  Its my first foray into using Linux full time and with a few small (to me) exceptions, its been great.  Haven’t fired up my Windows PC for three weeks.

I am interested to see what a Google OS would look like.  Would they give it away?  Would they put it in low end machines that were basically thin clients for Google?  My breath is baited.

Google Working on Desktop Linux – paulmac84 writes "The Register reports that Google is working on a version of Ubuntu, known internally as Goobuntu. Google has confirmed it is working on a desktop linux project, but declined to supply further details, including what the project is for. Is Google about to release this as an alternative to Windows?"
