Tech Tidbits: RealVNC and (quasi) mobile blogging

Today marked two firsts for me in the geek realm.

First, I finally had a reason to use RealVNC for a small task at work. With that success under my belt I rushed home to download the version for the Nokia tablet. All I can say is wow. While I havent tried conncting to a windows machine with it yet, on my Linux boxes it is a gem. Even with the N800 I can get total access to the desktop of the remote machine with minimal lag and excellent color depth. Remote desktop tools have come a long way and I am now sold on the value of VNC.

The second new event is happening right now. I am posting to the blog from the N800 using a bluetooth keyboard and the WordPress client ported to the tablet by Daniel Martín Yerga. It is not a laptop, but with full sized buttons on the keyboard and the ability to compose entries offline in a package that will fit a case no bigger than a hard back book the whole thing has a greater flexibility than a laptop and is infinitley more portable.

I am expecting to get a new camera next month And will start posting some pictures of the setup.
